Getting started
I do not know what to do now.
Press L to open your quest log. It tells you who to talk to and where to go. NPCs with a yellow ! above their heads
have a quest for you. → Quests
I type and my character walks away (or letters open windows). The chat starts closed and letters are hotkeys. Press Enter to type and Enter again to send. → Controls and hotkeys
How do I talk to an NPC?
Click on them. Your character walks to them and their window opens. You do not have to type hi. →
Quests
Which vocation should I pick? Warrior if you want to stand in front, Archer to hit from afar, Mage for the highest damage and Shaman to heal or summon beasts. At level 20 you pick a subclass and can change it for free. → First steps
How do I change my look? Press T. It is free and you can change it whenever you want. → First steps
How do I change the language? With the flag on the login screen. The game is in Spanish, English, Brazilian Portuguese, Polish, German and Swedish.
How do I change the keys? Options > Controls > General Hotkeys, category “Rift Delve”. Also with the “Change keys” button in F1. → Controls and hotkeys
Your character
My ability bar is empty. Abilities are unlocked in the talent tree (N) and show up on the bar by themselves. You can also drag them from the book (B). → Your character
I made a mistake in the tree. The first reset is free; after that it costs 100 gold per level. → Your character
Can I change subclass? Yes, for free and whenever you want, out of combat. Each branch keeps its points.
What is the [48] next to monster names?
Its level. The color of that number says whether it is easy or dangerous for your level. → Combat
What are the icons under my portrait? The status bar: buffs, debuffs, shields and passives. Hover to see what they are. → Combat
Items, death and gold
Do I lose my items when I die? In the open world, no (except with a red or black skull). Your gear wears down and a blacksmith repairs it. In a dungeon you lose what you found and did not secure. → PvP and death
My item has a red X and does nothing. It is damaged from your deaths. A blacksmith repairs it for gold. → Items
What do the letters D, C, B, A and S mean? They are the ranks of gear quality. D is the simplest (gray) and S the best (orange). → Items
How do I know if an item is better than the one I wear? Put the mouse over it and hold Shift: you see the detail and a comparison with what you have equipped. → Items
Are potions and runes free? No, they are bought in shops. Only inside the classic Rift are they unlimited. → Economy
Where do I keep my best loot? In the Ark (key K), which holds 40 items and is the same in both cities. → Economy
Is there a market to sell to other players? Not yet. It is in the works. → Economy
What is Essence? A currency you earn inside dungeons and the Rift. It is used at the Altar, for example for the protective seal. → Economy
Dungeons and party
How do I enter a dungeon? With the minimum level and its access (a quest or, for some, a key), stepping on the entrance portal. Or with the finder (F). → Dungeons
Do I need a party? No. Every dungeon can be tried alone, and the health of champions and the boss adjusts to how many you are (up to 4). → Dungeons
How do I invite a friend to my party? Press H, type their name and Invite, or right-click them and “Invite to party”. → Dungeons
What is the “pick 1 of 3” chest? The dungeon prize: when you beat the boss you pick one item out of three built for your vocation. → Dungeons
PvP, season and events
Can I be killed right at the start? No: until level 24 nobody can attack you. There are also protection zones (temple, depot and houses). → PvP and death
What happens when the season ends? Another one begins, with a new story and rankings. Quests, reputation, faction, relics and rankings reset. Achievements and titles are kept. → Guild, season and relics
What time does the world boss appear? For now the Herald of the GM is switched off. When it is back it will appear once a week and only with 10 or more players of level 80 or higher online. → Guild, season and relics
How do I create or join a guild? With the G key. To found one you need level 8. → Guild, season and relics
